The Musicon Model
Exhibition Model, Venice Biennale, 2016
Show info
The Musicon model is a dynamic playground telling the stories of an area in constant change designed and built for the Venice Biennale 2016.
The model includes the built architecture and future visions of the Musicon area, a newly master-planned area located in Roskilde, Denmark. As an urban model it goes beyond the architectural fabric, it includes stories from the stakeholders of the Musicon, individual experiences, and activities such as modern dance, education, skateboarding and rock music performances. The model places itself in-between a representation of the current state opening up for what Musicon could be or could have been.
Stories are told through a variety of media such as a conventional massing model, moving imagery, photography, found objects, castings of textures and authentic historical objects. The surface of the model is covered with gravel that is possible to remove for the clearing of new built projects and the model represents a collage of materiality and scale reflective of the area with zoom-ins at 1:1 scale through to zoomed out 1:500 scale with the imagined history and future of the site.
