Copenhagen Ceramics
Exhibition, 2016
Show info
Copenhagen Ceramics is an exhibition platform that began its activities in 2012, with the aim of showcasing and demonstrating the high quality and great diversity of contemporary Danish ceramics as well as work by selected non-Danish artists.
A dialogue with light
The ceramics within the exhibition are displayed on simple white podiums. The neutrality of the white surface contrasts to the rich surface texture and colour of the ceramics it holds.
The main design element within the exhibition is a series of led strip lights; both suspended on chrome wires and placed on the podiums beside the art works. They are lighting the art works and the space, but are simultaneously objects in their own right. This tension creates an interesting dialogue.
The placement of these lights direct movement and views within the space, animating it in a subtle yet powerful way.
