Davids samling, arms and armour from the islamic world
Exhibition, 2022
Show info
This special exhibition presents an exquisite collection of arms and armour from the Islamic World from the period 1500 – 1850. AD.
Inspired by the islamic miniature paintings on display, the exhibition design lines the spaces and showcases in a soft tent-like composition of light, suspended textiles.
The context of the exhibited artifacts is presented to the user in upscaled prints of the miniature paintings on display, thereby drawing attention to the extraordinary quality and detail of the paintings and the depicted use of the weapons.
The showcases designed for the exhibition are modular with the aim of a flexible reuse in The David Collection’s future special exhibitions. The exterior material finish was developed in a close collaboration with the manufacturer, establishing a strong dialogue with the craftsmanship of the weapons displayed inside the showcases.
